Dionaea muscipula ‘Rose’ is a highly unusual cultivar derived from the ‘Green Jaws’ lineage and is renowned for its distinctive foliage, which bears a striking resemblance to the petals of a rose. Unique among all registered Dionaea muscipula cultivars, this selection is incapable of producing functional traps. Instead, the plant develops broadly winged leaf bases reaching up to 3.5 cm in length, frequently terminating in small pointed structures approximately 1–2 mm long that represent vestigial traps. The leaf bases curve downward along the midrib, creating an arched appearance, while the lateral margins often undulate and turn upwards, further enhancing the rose-like form. The foliage is predominantly decumbent and consistently displays a pure yellowish-green coloration. In contrast to its highly modified morphology, ‘Rose’ is considered vigorous and relatively fast growing, making it both an accessible and highly distinctive cultivar for collectors. Its ease of cultivation, bright coloration, absence of traps, and rare ornamental characteristics contribute to its popularity among carnivorous plant enthusiasts.
